Privacy Policy

Effective: 1 May 2026

ChannelUP ("the App") is a live TV guide application for LG webOS TVs, developed by LevelitUP Tech ("we", "us"). This policy explains what data the App accesses, how it is used, and your rights.

1. Data We Do Not Collect

ChannelUP does not collect, transmit, or store any personal data on external servers. We do not operate any backend infrastructure that receives data from your TV. Specifically:

  • No analytics or usage tracking
  • No advertising or ad identifiers
  • No user accounts or registration
  • No collection of viewing history, channel preferences, or personal information

2. Data Stored Locally on Your TV

The App stores the following data locally on your LG TV using webOS local storage (localStorage and db8):

  • Device discovery cache: The IP address and identifier of your HDHomeRun tuner on your home network, so the App can reconnect quickly.
  • User preferences: Settings such as guide look-ahead duration, subtitle font choice, channel sort order, and per-channel audio/subtitle track preferences.
  • Cached guide data: Electronic Program Guide data is cached locally for performance. This data originates from your HDHomeRun tuner and/or the HDHomeRun cloud API.

This data never leaves your TV and is deleted if you uninstall the App.

3. Network Communication

ChannelUP communicates over your home network and the internet solely for its core functionality:

  • HDHomeRun device: The App connects to your HDHomeRun tuner on your local network to retrieve channel lineup information and stream live TV. This communication stays within your home network.
  • HDHomeRun cloud API: The App contacts api.hdhomerun.com (operated by Silicondust) to retrieve program guide data. This is the same API used by official HDHomeRun applications. We do not operate this service and refer you to Silicondust's privacy policy for details on their data practices.
  • HDHomeRun discovery: If local device discovery fails, the App contacts discover.hdhomerun.com (operated by Silicondust) to locate your tuner.

The App does not contact any servers operated by LevelitUP Tech during normal operation.

4. Diagnostic Reports (Optional)

The App includes an optional diagnostic submission feature in its debug overlay. If you choose to send a diagnostic report, it will contain:

  • App version and webOS version
  • Tuner model and signal quality information
  • App performance metrics and error logs
  • Your app preferences (not personal data)

Diagnostic reports are sent to a LevelitUP Tech endpoint only when you explicitly initiate the submission. They do not contain personally identifiable information and are used solely for debugging and improving the App.

5. Third-Party Services

The App does not integrate any third-party analytics, advertising, or social media services. The only third-party service contacted is the HDHomeRun cloud API operated by Silicondust, as described above.

6. Children's Privacy

The App does not knowingly collect any data from children. Since the App does not collect personal data from any user, no age-specific data handling applies.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy if the App's data practices change. The updated policy will be posted at this URL with a revised effective date.
